Abstract

Despite guidelines for management of asthma, there continues to be innumerable hospitalizations for asthma exacerbations. Access to physician follow-up and pharmaceuticals is suspected to play a role in the cause. Medicaid provides insurance for many children from low-income families, however coverage for adults is limited. This study serves as an exploratory descriptive analysis of the insurance barriers adults with asthma face, and compares them to children with the same disease.
