Abstract

Electric distribution networks are characterized by high R/X ratio. For this reason, the active power losses in the distribution networks are greater as compared to transmission power networks. On the other hand, the fossil fuel reserve is also reducing day by day. For this reason, renewable energy sources like PV, wind, etc., are the best alternatives in order to overcome this crisis. If the power output from renewable energy-based distributed generators can be injected at optimal points of the distribution network, the active power losses, fossil fuel-based energy consumption and environmental emission can be reduced. This paper aims at determining the optimal points of PV-based DG injection by Jaya algorithm with an objective of increasing the technical, commercial and environmental benefits. The capacity of PV-based DG has been calculated by deterministic approach for the location of Kashmir, India.
