Comparison of human and pigeon erythrocyte membrane proteins by one- and two-dimensional gel electrophoresis

Abstract

1. 1. Pigeon and human bands 1 and 2 (spectrin) and 5 (actin) are conserved. 2. 2. Band 3 anion porters have similar SDS positions, but the pigeon porter has a higher isoelectric point. 3. 3. Both anion porters are inhibited by similar doses of pyridoxal phosphate. 4. 4. Many differences are apparent in minor bands.
