Abstract

The material behaviour can vary with strain rate so it becomes necessary to understand the response of materials under dynamic loading that closely match the service conditions. The high-strain rate behaviour of OFHC copper has been evaluated using split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) technique and dynamic indentation (DI) technique. A comparison of data obtained using these techniques indicated a good match. The effect of strain-rate and microstructure on behaviour of material and strain-rate sensitivity has been discussed.
