Abstract

Next generation mobile network provides higher bandwidths to the mobile users using heterogeneous wireless access techniques. However, when mobile node is moving from the one point to the another point handover mechanism needed for continuous network availability and to provide better Quality of Service (QoS) to the users. Here, an analytical model is considered in order to check where handoff decision is needed. This model uses probability of handover as a parameter to find the network performance. In this paper, probability of handover for multiple networks is derived by considering the requirements of mobile user and network environment in order to provide better understanding of mobility management in future networks. Here the handover algorithm is studied based on bandwidth. From the theoretical analysis and the simulation results, it is observed that the model is efficient and effective for better handover decision.
