Abstract

This study shows comparisons of GPS data acquired by the two APIs. The one is the LocationManager API, and the other one is the Google Location Services API. First, we have implemented an Android application to export acquired GPS data to a text file. Second, the Android tablet was placed on a desk set up outdoors to acquire GPS data. Finally, GPS data was acquired when the user moved 10 meters with the Android tablet and returned. Generally, the GPS data was more stable with Google’s API, however the latitude data became progressively smaller when moving 10 meters and returning. In this study, we were able to demonstrate that the accuracy of Google’s API is generally higher than that of the LocationManager API.
