Abstract

Introduction: Research emphasizes the need for instructional strategies and tools to improve BLS performance and reduce instructional time. In this study, BLS outcomes in four 20-min reciprocal learning settings with task cards as instructional tools were compared. Experimental settings differed in the amount of explicit instructional guidance. Reciprocal learning is a peer tutoring strategy in which students work in pairs and exchange roles of doer and helper. Task cards combine a picture of the BLS skill with written instruction about how to perform the skill.
