Abstract

The paper is focused on the experimental performance analysis of 8-pole 48-slot dual three-phase synchronous reluctance motor on half control mode. Two different winding configurations, obtained by changing terminals connection of the prototype, are taken into account. For the first step the cross coupling effect between the axis in dq reference is analyzed, by computing the flux values for different combination of current. Then the torque characteristics of each configuration are studied in terms of torque map, MTPA locus and torque ripple. Afterwards a finite element model has been defined in order to explain the experimental observations. Finally the radial forces are studied with finite element analysis. This aspect results to be a key point for the choice of the best winding configuration.
