Abstract

The Vernier machine is one of the best electric machines that can be applied for various applications like wave energy due to generation of high thrust force at low speed. In this article, a dual stator consequent-pole linear permanent magnet vernier machine (DSCLPMVM) with toroidal winding and Halbach array permanent magnet (PM) has been proposed in order to compare with conventional machine with concentrated winding. Operation of the proposed DSCLPMVM and conventional DSCLPMVM is based on magnetic gear effect. The performance of the proposed and conventional machines has been analysed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) with ANSYS Maxwell software at the same condition, in terms of induced voltage, power factor, inductance, thrust force, detent force, PM flux and losses.
