Abstract

In this paper, the differential transformation method (DTM) and homotopy analysis method (HAM) are compared to solve energy equation of steady and fully developed flow in a circular tube. A new technique for calculating the one-dimensional differential transform of nonlinear equation is applied. This new technique avoids the difficulties and massive computational work that usually arise from the standard method. Comparisons of the results obtained by the DTM with that obtained by the HAM suggest that the DTM is more accurate than the HAM for this type of problem. The validity of our solutions is verified by the numerical results (fourth-order Runge-Kutta method and shooting method).
