Abstract
This article presents a pedagogical and linguistic analysis of the most common methods and approaches that are used to teach English around the world. It is a well-known truth that the use of different methods of teaching language in educational institutions has the potential not only to improve education, but also to empower people, strengthen governance and strengthen efforts to achieve the goal of human development for a country with a range of educational opportunities. Recent trends, methodologies and developments reflect the vital role of the education sector as a whole with its internationalization of the educational process, emphasis on quality over quantity, increasing adoption of technology, demand for professional talent, etc. The authors analyze the characteristics of these methods, as well as some of their advantages and disadvantages for learning English as a foreign language. It is noted that in the world the most dominant method of teaching English is the communicative method using innovative technologies. Thus, in fact, the teacher controls the learning process, the content is brought to the audience, and the teacher has the opportunity to focus on factual knowledge.
