Abstract

Two methods for calculating the properties of dipole antennas on an ideal open area test site are compared: assumption of a sinusoidal current distribution on the dipoles and the method of moments. It is shown how agreement between the methods of better than 0.07 dB can be obtained for the coupling between two dipoles over a perfectly conducting ground plane at resonance by using a very thin resonant wire in the sinusoidal current distribution calculation in place of the actual resonant wire.
