Abstract

Voltage fluctuation and flicker is one of the most important indexes of IEC standard for power quality. Based on the principle recommended by IEC, the types, advantages and disadvantages of voltage flicker measurement methods are analyzed and compared. Three digital algorithms based on mathematical transform techniques are emphasized, involving Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), Wavelet Transform (WT), Hilbert Transform (HT). In order to make tracking the voltage flicker fast and correct, the article proposes the combined methods are feasible, which make best use of the advantages and bypass the disadvantages of single methods. Furthermore, the measures used to suppress the voltage flicker from Distributed Generation (DG) are presented in detail. All the study is helpful for the design of flicker meter and suppression of voltage fluctuation and flicker. (5 pages)
