Abstract

The current transducer includes a magnetic core and a Hall sensor. The magnetic core focuses magnetic field which is generated by the measured current. In this paper, the current transducer are compared according to electrical steels of isotropic and anisotropic materials which are widely used for the current measurement. The anisotropic materials have excellent magnetic characteristics, but are expensive due to the complexity of the manufacturing process of the magnetic core. On the other hand, the isotropic materials have relatively poor magnetic characteristics, but they can be manufactured inexpensively. The characteristics of the current transducer are compared experimentally by making the same size magnetic cores. To consider the saturation of the magnetic core, up to 1200(A) current was injected. The measurement errors of the current transducer for each magnetic core are analyzed through the experiment. Also, a guideline is proposed according to the application to which the current transducer is applied.
