Abstract

Cross-modulation distortion arising from the dynamic nonlinearity of a semiconductor laser is shown to be an important entity in a multicarrier fiber optic system. The interplay between cross-modulation distortion and intermodulation distortion is investigated for lasers operating at 1.3 and 0.835 μm.
