Abstract

Banks are the building blocks of the economic system and are of great importance in achieving sustainable development. Banks are expected to integrate sustainability into their corporate strategies, respect the environment, contribute to society at a higher level and emphasize transparency in their relations with stakeholders. The study aims to analyze the corporate sustainability performance of conventional banks operating in Turkiye. In this context, the corporate sustainability performance of 5 deposit banks operating in Turkiye is categorized according to 14 indicators within the scope of environmental, social and economic dimensions. Since the importance levels of each indicator used in the research may be different, firstly, the importance weights of the 14 indicators were calculated by entropy method, which is one of the objective weighting methods. Then, the corporate sustainability performance of the banks was obtained using the Topsis method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods.
