Abstract

The comparison of control performances by using different waveform generators for electrolytic capacitor-less motor drives is proposed in this paper, which includes the sinusoidal-square waveform, sinusoidal waveform, trapezoid waveform and sinusoidal waveform with third harmonic injection. The key indexes including power factor, total harmonics distortion, peak phase current and efficiency are used to conduct the evaluation. Meanwhile, the minimum controlled DC link voltage, namely, the dead zone of the waveform generators is treated as a variable to further examine the performance of the electrolytic capacitor-less motor drives. The optimal operation point can be consequently obtained for the certain concerned scenario.
