Abstract

Carbon paste electrochemistry was found to be a suitable method for studying pyrrole polymers. Cyclic voltammograms of some polypyrroles samples are presented, and depend mainly on both the conditions of synthesis of the samples and the cycling electrolytes. In particular, halide ion electrolytes provided well-behaved peaks. Ferric perchlorate was also tested as a convenient oxidant for polymerization of pyrrole and some pyrrole derivatives. Some physical and electrochemical characteristics of four chemically prepared polyhalopyrroles are reported.
