Abstract

Modern requirements for environmental protection result in developing environmentally safe preparations used for growing of planting material of coniferous species in forest nurseries. Preparations Verva and Verva-spruce, developed at the Institute of chemistry of FRC Komi science center of the Ural Branch of RAS. Preparations are produced from logging wastes – needle of conifers. Bio-product Verva is based on triterpene acids extracted from fir. The preparation Verva-spruce contains natural phenolic compounds of spruce as an active substance. The experiments were conducted in the forest nursery in the Middle Urals (Beryozovsky forest district, Sverdlovsk area). The purpose was to compare the degree of the influence of stimulants Verva and Verva-spruce on the main growth parameters of two-years-old seedlings of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and three-years-old seedlings of Siberian spruce (Picea obovata Ledeb.), i.e. after a minimum period of growing the planting material of these species in a forest nursery. The seeds were treated with biostimulants in doses of 0.1 and 0.25 ml/kg before sowing. The effect of biostimulants on seedlings of both species was mainly expressed in the height and weight increasing of the above-ground part. The study found that pine seedlings are more sensitive to the biostimulants Verva and Verva-el than spruce one. Treatment with biostimulants led to the achievement of the required standard sizesat finishing the minimalgrowing period the species in a forest nursery: pine -2 years, spruce-3 years. This ensures the economic efficiency of forestry production.
