Abstract

This paper presents a systematic analysis overview based on theoretical derivations and simulation results for different versions of Doherty Power Amplifier (DPA). The Bandwidth (BW) for average efficiency and maximum output power level is evaluated and compared. The comparison is between the conventional current-combined DPA and voltage-combined DPA with applying the BW enhancement method for broadband 5G wireless transmitter application. The evaluations are done at 27 GHz center frequency. It is concluded that the voltage-combined DPA modified with efficiency in a generic way has one bandwidth-limiting factor that is due to the practical restrictions of transformer implementation.
