Abstract
This study compares the sealing ability of a hydroxyapatite-forming calcium phosphate cement to that of Grossman's cement. Twenty-two single-rooted anterior teeth were instrumented. Two teeth were used as controls. Ten teeth were filled using Grossman's cement, gutta-percha, and lateral condensation. Spreader penetration with the master cone in place was recorded. Student's t test showed statistically significant differences in apical leakage between the two groups of teeth. The calcium phosphate cement did not provide as adequate an apical seal as did the Grossman's cement sealer with the experimental conditions used.
