Abstract

Objective To investigate the accuracy of bronchial suction catheter method, bronchial cuff pressure method and fiberoptic bronchoscopy method to determine the location of the left double-lumen endobronchial tube. Methods A total of 150 patients treated by thoracic surgery with single lung ventilation by left double-lumen endobronchial tube in the Second People’s Hospital of Shenzhen from January 2017 to December 2018 were randomly divided into 3 groups, with 50 cases in each group. The position of double-lumen endobronchial tube was judged by bronchial suction catheter method, bronchial cuff pressure method and fiberoptic bronchoscopy method respectively after double-lumen endobronchial intubation. The accuracy of three methods, incidence of angina and hoarseness were compared among the three groups. Results The accuracy of bronchial suction catheter method, bronchial cuff pressure method and fiberoptic bronchoscopy method was 68%, 86% and 100%, respectively. The accuracy of bronchial cuff pressure method was higher than that of bronchial suction catheter method, and accuracy of fiberoptic bronchoscopy method was significantly higher than that of bronchial suction catheter method and bronchial cuff pressure method (P 0.05). Conclusions It is more accurate and reliable to locate double-lumen endobronchial with fiberoptic bronchoscopy, but the method of bronchial cuff pressure has great practical value in the primary hospital. Key words: Bronchial suction catheter; Fiberoptic bronchoscopy; Bronchial cuff pressure; Positioning
