Abstract
The main goal of endodontic therapy is to maintain the integrity of the tooth in terms of proper form, function and aesthetics. Procedural accidents, such as furcation or root canal perforations, may occur during every step of the treatment and may rapidly affect the long-term prognosis of the tooth involved. Numerous materials for the repair of iatrogenic accidents have been recommended. Nowadays, the most preferred repair material used is MTA. Despite its numerous advantages, the material also presents with some clinical drawbacks. There are two types of MTA: gray and white, which despite their similarities present also with some clinical relevant differences. The aim of this article is to review the literature and compare the two types of MTA according their main differences and properties.
