Abstract

The resolution of the pressure wave propagation (PWP) method using a piezo-electric device as a generator of acoustic pulse waves has been improved and applied to observe the generation, drift, and trapping of carriers in an organic photoconductor (OPC). To improve the resolution, a new technique to generate the narrow acoustic pulse wave was used. Applying a step-like voltage to the thin PVDF film, a pulsed acoustic pressure wave was obtained, with a resulting resolution of about 10 /spl mu/m. In this report, the principle and the result of this technique are introduced. Furthermore, the measurement result applied to the OPC is compared with that obtained using the pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method.
