Abstract

The primary and secondary current distributions in bipolar electrochemical reactors with recessed electrodes are compared. When the electrolyte of the different reactors of the stack is connected, and thus a leakage current is possible, the secondary current distribution is more pronounced than the primary one for the cases of industrial importance. In the absence of a leakage current the usual behavior of a monopolar system is observed.
