Abstract

The research aimed to compare and assess Ifraz-2 and Qandil water treatment plant (WTP) units in Erbil Governorate, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. For obtaining removal efficiency for the units and the whole WTPs, water samples from raw water, after sedimentation process, after filtration unit, and after disinfection were collected from November 2018 to April 2019. The average removal efficiencies for the sedimentation unit, filtration unit, and the entire Ifraz-2 WTP were 92.25%, 64.99%, and 97.54%, respectively. While, the average removal efficiencies for the sedimentation unit, filtration unit, and the entire Qandil WTP were 86.83%, 91.28%, and 99.29%, respectively. Statistical analysis was conducted such as correlations between the removal efficiencies between units, t-test for final treated water, and multiple regression analysis to obtain the effect of the units on the final removal in the storage tank. Comparison between Ifraz-2 and Qandil WTPs were outlined. Results revealed that performance and conditions of Qandil WTP were better than Ifraz-2 WTP.
