Abstract

In patients with low flow, low gradient aortic stenosis (LF-LG-AS), rest echocardiography is often inconclusive with regards to the severity of AS. We have previously proposed using the projected aortic valve area indexed to body surface area (indexed AVAProj ≤0.55 cm2/m2) or aortic valve calcification density (AVCd: ratio of absolute AVC to cross-sectional area of aortic annulus) ≥476 AU/cm2 in men and ≥292 AU/cm2 in women to identify true severe AS. However, these 2 parameters have not been compared in patients with LF-LG-AS.
