Abstract

Purpose: Background: Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is commonly associated with overweight/obesity which aggravates pain and disability, accelerates OA progression and increases the likelihood of undergoing costly arthroplasty. Clinical guidelines recommend education/advice, exercise and weight loss as first-line OA management. However, evidence-practice gaps exist, with under-utilization of lifestyle strategies and over-utilization of medications and surgery. Given the escalating OA burden, there is an urgent need for effective, accessible, and scalable lifestyle management programs for this population.
