Abstract

Perkins (see /Prkns/) compared three papers defining the notion "data type": /Guttg/, /Gougn/, and /Greit/. He came to the conclusion that /Guttg/ is a paper investigating the question of consistency and completeness of data type specifications to a sufficiently large extent, and he concludes that, therefore, there is no need for a type theory that is not based on the theory of initial algebras.
