Abstract

A family history of premature coronary artery disease (CAD) is an essential non-modifiable risk factor for CAD. It is not included in the traditional Framingham risk score system or the European SCORE. Vascular imaging [(carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) and pulse wave velocity (PWV)], biomarkers (hs-CRP, homocysteine), and novel markers of dyslipidemia [Apolipoprotein-B, Lipoprotein(a)] are among the endothelial dysfunction markers. We studied the markers of endothelial dysfunction among the first-degree relative (FDR) of premature CAD patients and the normal population.
