Abstract

Crossflow filtration with pore blocking is an unsteady system affected by operating conditions. We model pore blocking and solve the governing partial differential equations using the method of lines. The loss in permeability is neither spatially nor temporally uniform. Operating at constant flux results in a greater permeate of clean water but at a higher operating cost than operating at constant pressure.
