Abstract
BETTIE S. JACKSON, EdD, RN is the Assistant Administrator for Nursing Services at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York. Dr. Jackson is a graduate of Teachers College, Columbia University. At the time this article was written she was Assistant Director II, of Nursing, in charge of the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center, Bronx, New York. JOAN R. RESNICK, BSN, RN was a staff nurse in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Montefiore Hospital at the time this article was written. She is currently pursuing graduate education as a nurse anesthetist.
