Abstract

Background: Gait can be analyzed by 3D motion capture systems (3Dmc) in laboratories. However, they are usually expensive and require special settings not available in most regular hospitals. Therefore, the assessment of abnormal gait pattern in patients with stroke or movement disorders was limited to the visual assessment by skilled neurologists in clinical practice. Recently, Microsoft Kinect has been proposed as a tool for motion analysis, however its usefulness in gait analysis has not been established.
