Abstract

In this research a comparative analysis of double and twin sensors of electric field strength is presented. The design and technological parameters of the sensor and its metrological characteristics are chosen for comparison. The complexity of the sensor measuring circuits is evaluated. The analysis showed that the sensors are equal in design and technological parameters. The difference is traced on metrological characteristics and relative complexity of measuring circuits. According to metrological characteristics, dual sensors are significantly superior to twin sensors. So, for the best structural parameters of a dual sensor with angular sizes of sensitive elements <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{46,38^{0}}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{90^{0}}$</tex> , an error from inhomogeneity of a field does not exceed <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\boldsymbol{\pm 2.76\%}$</tex> in all spatial range [0;1]. For the same error, dual sensors can be used only in the limited spatial measurement range [0;0.89]. In terms of measurement circuit complexity, double sensors are inferior to twin sensors. However, the metrological superiority of twin sensors allows us to conclude that it is reasonable to use them.
