Abstract
High-speed permanent magnet (PM) motors have received extensive attention in the field of electric spindle due to their merits of high-power density and high efficiency. To meet the requirement of electric spindle, high-speed interior permanent magnet (IPM) motors with six different single-layer PM rotor structures for electric spindle are comparatively analyzed and designed in this paper. Firstly, the main structural parameters of the high-speed IPM motor are derived. Then, the electromagnetic performance of IPM motors with six different rotor structures is comparatively analyzed in detail. Finally, the mechanical performance and temperature of these motors are investigated. The results show that, when using square wave current control, the IPM motor with single tile type rotor has the best electromagnetic performance and is thus recommended as the best candidate.
