Abstract

ABSTRACT In this study, E-glass fibre-reinforced polypropylene and epoxy matrix composites were produced in different thicknesses and subjected to low-velocity impact tests with 30 joules of energy. The tests yielded force, displacement and energy data, which were used to analyse the effects of thickness variation on impact performance in composite plates with different matrix structures. The results showed that thickness variation creates different impact responses in composites with different matrix materials.
