Abstract

This paper discusses a comparison between the compressive strength of Heritage brick and Conventional Brick. The determination of the Compressive strength of heritage bricks is also helpful in maintaining and identifying the future service life of the structure. Two brick samples of different sizes were taken from one of the ancient heritages structure, the Veetrirundha Perumal Temple, Veppathur of Thanjavur district, Tamil Nadu, India. The bricks were tested for its compressive strength following the ASTM standards. The results showed that the strength of heritage brick 1 & 2 was 415KN and 2354 KN, respectively, which was very much higher than the conventional bricks.
