Abstract

A comparative investigation of the residual stress distribution of pipe weldment of 600 MPa grade high tensile strength steel pipe (STKT590) using finite element welding analysis is reported. Temperature dependent physical constants and mechanical properties of STKT590 are considered in the welding simulation. The residual stress profile of STKT590 pipe weldment is compared with that of a conventional STK490 pipe weldment.
