Abstract
In this work, the performance of the five solar concentrating dish receiver configurations were studied for convection heat loss. Flat, spherical, dome, cylindrical and frustum of cone shape receivers are modeled using SolidWorks 16 and analyzed with FLUID SIMULATION software under no wind condition. Receiver inner side is considered as isothermal surface and outer side is considered as adiabatic surface. Temperature variation and flow air in and around the receiver are factor influencing convection heat loss. For spherical, receiver, air flow is almost stagnant inside cavity, temperature affected region is comparatively less and flow velocity and flow affected region are also comparatively lesser. Hence, spherical cavity receiver is efficient receiver compared all other cavity receivers.
