Abstract
An improved Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) control strategy for the Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) is presented in this paper. To produce the best aerodynamic torque and enhance the WECS's dynamic performance, a robust Super-Twisting (STW) sliding mode control for variable speed wind turbines is developed. To maximize power extraction, the proposed control directly tracks the DFIG's electromagnetic torque. The STW control strategy is contrasted with conventional Sliding Mode (SM) and Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers in terms of performance and efficiency. Chattering reduction, a finite convergence time, and robustness to changes in parameters and system disturbances are among the intriguing characteristics of the proposed STW algorithm.
