Abstract

The distillation column has an interest research for decades due to its importance in petroleum industry and due to the complexity of controlling, because of the existence of high interaction and nonlinear. In the other hand, the increasing research in the fractional domain due to the important results that gotten. It is chosen in this work to show the effect of the fractional integrator controller on the quality control for the challenging distillation column which is a multivariable system. For that, a comparative study is used between the conventional proportional integrator (PI) controller and the proportional fractional integrator one (PI λ ) based on the BLT method. The wood and berry distillation column process is examined. With graphical and numerical analysis is presented. The ISE, ITAE and settling time are used as a criterion of comparison with the integer control. The results show the effectiveness and the improvement in the quality control of the response because of fractional additional parameter.
