Abstract

Serum creatine kinase MB isoenzyme (CKMB) and myoglobin have been studied in 35 cases with myocardial infarction. Increased values for both serum CKMB and myoglobin have been found in all the patients in the second sample collected 4 hr. after admission while in 22 patients in the first sample collected immediately after admission. Thus, the present study shows a good correlation between serum CKMB and myoglobin and therefore, suggests the possibility of using the serum myoglobin estimation in early detection of myocardial infarction either alone or in combination with the serum CKMB.
