Abstract

1. 1. Phosphoriboisomerase, d-xylulose-5-phosphate-3-epimerase, transketolase, transaldolase and 6-phophogluconate dehydrogenase were studied in extracts of Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus and Neoechinorhynchus spp. 2. 2. Pentose phosphate pathway enzymes of M. hirudinaceus, with respect to extract incubation temperatures, exhibited peaks of maximal specific activity which coincide with the body temperature of the homeothermic swine host. 3. 3. Pentose phosphate pathway enzymes of Neoechinorhynchus spp., with respect to extract incubation temperatures, exhibited broad specific activity peaks which may coincide with thermal changes of the poikilothermic turtle host. 4. 4. 6-Phosphogluconate dehydrogenase from M. hirudinaceus and Neoechinorhynchus spp. exhibited specificity for NADP+ as compared to NAD+.
