Abstract

Electricity grids are gradually evolving with the change in the energy mix. Renewable Energy is slowly penetrating through the power system. This has led to the need of mitigating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The need for adopting renewable energy in the grid is rising even in Australia. This has been the motivation to study the integration of Renewable Energy Systems (RES) into a micro-grid in buildings like a university. In this study, the optimal sizing of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems (HRES) has been carried out for a university building in Warrnambool, Australia. The results are compared between two software packages, HOMER, and iHOGA, for a specific scenario.
