Abstract

The hemogram is a fundamental complementary exam in veterinarian medicine field that assess the health of the animals. The Blood count provides crucial information about the cellular elements in the blood, being essential for detecting and monitoring several clinical conditions in animals. The main purpose was to compare the results achieved in the hematological variables of erythrocytes, hematocrit, MCV, total leukocytes and platelets in hemograms of dogs obtained using the methods semi-automated and manual. The result exhibit that, based on a set of 10 samples, there were no significant differences between the methods. However, when all 24 samples were analyzed, significant differences in total erythrocyte and leukocyte levels were observed between the two methods.
