Abstract
Electrical properties of Pr0.7−xBixSr0.3MnO3 & Pr0.6−xBixSr0.4MnO3 (x = 0.00, 0.10, 0.20) compound have been studied. Based on regular shift in XRD spectra, decrease in unit cell volume is observed. Although Bi3+ (1.17 Å) ion has larger ionic radii than Pr3+ (1.126 Å) ion and can be understood in a scenario of coexistence of charge‐ordered and ferromagnetic phase. Electrical‐resistivity measurements show that transition temperature (TMI, TC) increase for Pr0.7−xBixSr0.3MnO3 & decrease for Pr0.6−xBixSr0.4MnO3 compounds in contradictory. Larger ionic size of Bi3+ ion dominates and encourages double‐exchange (DE) interaction which in turns result an increase in transition temperature for Pr0.7−xBixSr0.3MnO3 compound. On the other hand for Pr0.6−xBixSr0.4MnO3 compound, the present results can be understood in a scenario of strong hybridization between Bi(6s2) and O(2p) orbital and effect in opposite sense as in Pr0.7−xBixSr0.3MnO3 compound.
