Abstract

Within the framework of the empirical barrier distribution model (EBDM), we attempt to extend our previous study (R. Gharaei et al. (2018) [22]) for analyzing systematically the heavy-ion fusion and quasi-elastic scattering reactions using fourteen different versions of the proximity potentials. The main objective of the present study is to study the performance of various nuclear proximity potentials in reproducing the fusion cross sections and quasi-elastic cross sections simultaneously. Our finding reveals that the EBDM approach with proximity potential 1977 (Prox. 77) and modified proximity potential 1977 (Mod. Prox. 77) generate best estimates of the fusion and quasi-elastic scattering cross sections data. Further, the obtained results for the presently studied reactions show that the different proximity potentials provide a more accurate description for the experimental data of the fusion excitation functions in comparison with the large-angle quasi-elastic scattering excitation functions.
