Abstract
Thermal barrier coatings (TBC) are highly advanced material systems usually applied to metallic surfaces such as gas turbine or aero-engine parts to reduce temperature. Polyurethane was the main component composed from chain of organic units joined by urethane links. 10 samples have been prepared with 5 samples for every combination at 1 to 5 different weight percent for each composition and dried at room temperature for one week. The sample was being characterized based on adhesion using crosshatch test and thermal barrier conductivity to know the k-value of conductivity. PU with 3 and 5 wt% of TiO2 and 1 and 5 wt% of nanoclay (NC) showed the smoothest cross cuts. As a result, modified polyurethane with 5wt% of TiO2 or Nanoclay gives the good adhesion and k-value at 0.093 W.m-1.K-1.
