Abstract

Static and dynamic dielectric properties were studied around the ferroelectric phase transition temperatures of PbHAsO 4 and PbHPO 4 . Typical Debye-type dielectric dispersions were observed in both of the ferroelectrics. Dynamic dielectric properties of the two ferroelectrics are very similar to each other. On the other hand, there are remarkable differences in the static dielectric properties; the Curie-Weiss constant of PbHAsO 4 is about two times larger than that of PbHPO 4 , and the spontaneous polarization of PbHAsO 4 is about 40% larger than that of PbHPO 4 at the same T c - T . These differences suggest that the permanent electric dipole moment in PbHAsO 4 is considerably large compared with that in PbHPO 4 .
