The structure of proteins from ribosomes of Escherichia coli, yeast and rat liver was compared. Analyses of the amino acids composition of proteins revealed remarkable differences among the protein moieties of ribosomes. However, the NH2-terminal groups of three different ribosomal proteins were similar.
